Northern English colloquialism for one’s sibling (often younger), used affectionately; sometimes extended to a close younger relative or mate.

Examples

"I’m taking our kid to the match on Saturday; he’s buzzing for his first derby."

"Our kid’s just started at college, and Mam’s dead proud of him."

"If you need a lift, ask our kid—he’ll nip round after work and sort you out."
